Abstract

With the advent of digital payment methods, more people than ever before have access to banking services.   The purpose of this research is to identify ways in which digital payments might help low-income people get access to banking services.     By cutting prices, simplifying transactions, and increasing accessibility, digital payments have empowered people in low-income and rural communities.  To determine the relative merits of various digital platforms in closing the income gap, the research looks at methods such contactless payment technology, UPI-based systems, and mobile wallets.  It goes into greater depth on the problems with digital literacy, cybersecurity, and infrastructure that prevent digital banking from achieving its maximum potential for equitable growth.     By reviewing the literature on the topic and analysing relevant case studies, this paper demonstrates how digital payments are crucial for empowering individuals with their money and facilitating long-term economic growth.  Legislators, banks, and tech companies can all learn a lot from the results if they want to use digital tools to build more fair financial systems.
