Advanced Database Security Techniques in Oracle Environments

This research paper proposes a comprehensive framework for integrating advanced database security techniques in Oracle environments to address emerging security threats and compliance challenges. The study focuses on implementing a multi-layered security strategy that combines data encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), Oracle Database Vault, dynamic data masking, and real-time monitoring using Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall (AVDF). The framework is designed to safeguard sensitive data, prevent unauthorized access, mitigate insider threats, and ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR and PCI DSS.
To validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, a case study was conducted in a controlled Oracle database environment that simulates real-world conditions. The security techniques were evaluated based on their ability to mitigate common attack vectors, such as SQL injection, privilege escalation, and data leakage, while minimizing performance overhead. Results showed that the integrated framework achieved a 94% overall security score, effectively preventing unauthorized access and providing robust protection against both external and internal threats. However, performance testing revealed that certain techniques, such as dynamic data masking and machine learning-based anomaly detection, introduced notable overhead, increasing query response time by up to 25%.
